David Daleiden and The Center for Medical Progress are facing off against Planned Parenthood in Federal Court Wednesday, October 2nd. After the release of their first undercover videos—part of their research into the abortion industry's crimes—CMP was accused of illegally gaining access into abortion industry conferences, breaking confidentiality agreements, and engaging in mail and wire fraud. (Notice that there’s nothing about defamation or slander.) Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation’s witnesses will be testifying under oath to try to convince a jury to bleed CMP of their resources, making them pay for recent security upgrades and fines associated with the alleged crimes.
Overseeing this trial is Judge William Orrick III, who has since 2015 been suppressing the release of hundreds of hours of undercover footage with an unconstitutional gag order. Judge Orrick is known to be a supporter of Planned Parenthood, having served on the board of an organization when it opened a PP clinic here in San Francisco. Orrick still has ongoing duties to that organization, and they are still partnered with the Plaintiffs in this case. All of this shows a clear conflict of interest, yet he has refused to recuse himself from the case.
The abortion industry is seeking to discourage the work of pro-live activists and doesn't want to put a big spotlight on this case. But we've got to show them that we're not afraid of their tactics. This story won't go away either. Dragging us to court will only shed light on the underhanded dealings of the abortion industry. If it's anything like the criminal case in State court, there's sure to be explosive testimony. We’ll see you from 8am to 1pm each day in Courtroom Two—all of the dates can be found above. Wear green, a symbol of life, as a sign of solidarity. Let’s show David and the rest of the CMP team our support!
CMP’s work has already led to the closure of two organ and tissue harvesting companies in Southern California and an open investigation by the Federal Department of Justice. You can read more about their work here: centerformedicalprogress.org
